Score and latest Lionesses updates from the Women’s Final final

Good evening, and welcome to the live coverage of the first women’s final match between the European and South American champions.

The match kicks off at 7.45pm as Sarina Weigman’s side take on Brazil at a sold-out Wembley,

Ahead of tonight’s game, the Lionesses launched their new kit ahead of Monday’s World Cup, which featured blue shorts after players raised concerns during last year’s European Championships about wearing white shorts while on their periods.

They will debut the new kit against Brazil during the current international break. It was a move that was welcomed by a number of former England players.

Former international Jill Scott says she supports the decision to change the national team’s shorts from white to blue to ease players’ menstrual concerns.

More experiences from Sarina Wegman?

This game offers both teams the chance to test themselves against World Cup opponents as the countdown begins before the Women’s World Cup kicks off in July and August in New Zealand and Australia.

England won the Arnold Clarke Cup in February, scoring 12 goals in their three matches and remaining unbeaten in 29 matches under manager Sarina Wiegmann.

We do know, however, that Weigman is only a test run during the European Championships, she opted for the same XV throughout the tournament last summer. Will you give new players a change to stake their claim to the World Cup squad?

Among the players making their first appearance since the summer is Chelsea’s Lauren James, who went from secondary player to regular in England.

She scored her first goal for England in their Arnold Clarke Cup victory over South Korea in February..

Landmark match

It was an unusual pre-match press conference on Wednesday, with the captain and managers addressing the media together in a show of unity ahead of the occasion.

“It’s the first final. It’s really nice and it’s going to be a great occasion.”

“We’re going to be playing in front of 90,000 people and it’s set to be a very exciting environment and evening. These are two teams that want to play football.

“Although Brazil have a young team, this is a very good football team. They are strong, they have sportsmanship and they are very tight on the ball. They are very technical and play with good structure, so we are excited to see where we are against them.

“We expect to be more challenged in defence, so that will give us more information about our squad and where the players are at the moment going forward in our preparation for the World Cup.”
