Queues grow as the Easter weekend begins

[ad_1]

Queues were forming again yesterday as the Easter break got under way in the port of Dover with passengers warned of a 90-minute delay.

Danish ferry operator DFDS told holidaymakers that the recent delays were caused by French passport checks.

The company told the passengers: “Unfortunately, due to the heavy traffic, there are queues at the border control points. Once you arrive at the check-in place, we will take you out as soon as we can.”

Today the port is expected to be the busiest of the weekend, although officials have taken a range of measures in an effort to avoid a repeat of last weekend’s chaos. Some temporary French passport control booths have been opened to relieve some of the pressure.
