Meanwhile, Prince George is set to become the youngest future monarch to take an official part in a coronation, having been named one of his grandfather’s four Pages of Honor.

The nine-year-old will be entrusted with carrying the King’s robes along with three other Pages of Honor – schoolboys Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, Nicholas Barclay, 13, and Ralph Tollemache, 12, all three being the children of His Majesty’s Friends.

The Queen also chose to include in her Honors pages her three grandchildren, twins Joss and Luis Lopez, 13, and Freddie Parker Bowles, 13, as well as her nephew, Arthur Elliott, 10.

Commissioned music for the recital includes a piece by Professor Paul Mellor of the University of Aberdeen, an anthem composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and a coronation march created by Patrick Doyle.

Professor Mellor admitted that it was “a little scary” to be one of the 12 people chosen to compose new pieces of music for the concert.

The Ascension Choir, a group of eight “handpicked” singers from the choir that performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, has been selected for the King’s ceremony on May 6.

Conducted by Abimbola Amoako-Gyampah, the Ascension Choir will sing “Alleluia (O Sing Praises)” at the ceremony on May 6, becoming the first gospel group to perform at Westminster Abbey for the coronation.

The group will sing during the main service as part of a two-part composition commissioned from award-winning television and film composer Debbie Wiseman.

Another first event at the King’s coronation will be a performance of the Welsh language in Paul Mealor’s ‘Coronation Kyrie’.

The song will be sung by bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terville and the Westminster Abbey Choir for the main part of the service.

The palace said six of the new songs have been composed for the orchestra and will be performed before the service begins, before the king and queen arrive at the abbey.

After the service, the King and Queen, accompanied by senior members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony to conclude the day’s ceremonial activities.

It has already been suggested that during King Charles’ reign there is likely to be less emphasis on the extended royal family, with only the king’s children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren holding public office.

Sunday 7th May, big coronation luncheon

In keeping with King Charles’ interest in strengthening local communities, hundreds of events will be held across the country as part of the grand coronation lunch.

Community groups, neighbors, and residents were invited to share food and fun together in a nationwide celebration and friendship.

The event will be led by The Eden Project, whose Big Lunch each year brings millions of people together to promote community spirit, reduce loneliness and support charities and charitable causes.

Her Majesty The Queen Consort has been Patron of The Big Lunch since 2013.

The palace predicts that thousands of events will take place in every corner of the United Kingdom as people take to their streets, parks, gardens and community spaces to join in the celebrations of the coronation.

Peter Stewart LVO, Senior Purpose Officer at The Eden Project, said: “Sharing friendship, food and fun together gives people more than just a good time – people feel less alone, make friends and stay more engaged with their community, all as a result of sharing sarnie and chatting in their neighborhood “.

Last year’s Grand Jubilee Lunch saw 17 million people take part. Over £22m has been raised for good causes with 75 per cent of the funds remaining homegrown.

A survey found that 11.7 million people reported making new friends at the event and reported feeling less lonely after attending.

Sunday 7 May Coronation ceremony at Windsor Castle

After the celebration of the Coronation Festival, a special concert will be held at Windsor Castle the next day to celebrate the New Testament.

The show at Windsor Castle’s East Lawn will feature music stars from around the world, who will perform ‘favorite music’ and a selection of spoken word series.

The BBC is currently finalizing a lineup of top musicians, stars of stage and screen and dancers for the event, which will run until late into the night.

The concert format will be an echo of the Platinum Jubilee festivities, which saw the concert take place outside Buckingham Palace, with performances by the Queen, Diana Ross, Craig David and Duran Duran.
