Chelsea suffered another defeat on Saturday, after losing at home to Brighton, and Todd Bohle described the players as “embarrassment” after that in the dressing room, and this came after the fans expressed their displeasure at the full-time whistle.

Todd Boyle has told the Chelsea stars their season has been ’embarrassing’ following the home defeat to Brighton – and boss Frank Lampard must now try to boost morale for tonight’s crucial Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The Chelsea owner headed to the dressing room on Saturday and addressed the team as soon as interim boss Lampard gave his post-match speech.

As well as expressing disappointment with the way Chelsea’s season ended, Bohle tried to lift Lampard’s players ahead of Tuesday’s quarter-final second leg, in which the Blues must overturn a 2-0 deficit.

With Chelsea in 11th place in the Premier League after a third round exit in the domestic cup, the Champions League represents their last chance to salvage the season.

Bohli’s visit to the dressing room is not unusual, but the nature of his message raised eyebrows. However, Lampard said: ‘I’m comfortable with that. I had something to say after the match.

Todd Bohle laid on the Chelsea players after they lost 2-1 to Brighton on Saturday. Fans were furious with Bohle at the final whistle and he made his way into the dressing room afterwards.

There may have been some criticisms of our old owner for not coming to games and being around, that wasn’t always true.

“I remember the moments when I was an owner player when he walked into the dressing rooms for the first time, and I remember being happy. I don’t think it’s a bad thing.

I had something to say, if the owner wants to come in and be positive and talk to the players, they can do that. No problem with that, it shows passion and that’s the first thing I like about it.

In Pollet’s first year at the club, Chelsea spent big on the likes of Enzo Fernandes, Mykhailo Modric and Wesley Fofana but there was little benefit for the team as they found themselves 35 points behind leaders Arsenal.

The Blues have made more than £600m, but they are currently languishing in 11th place and look set to miss out on European football entirely next season.
