Yesterday we got detailed information about the Google Pixel Fold announcement and release date, along with pricing, and today a new report came out that confirms some details and reveals others.
The Pixel Fold, Google’s first foldable smartphone, is claimed in that report to cost “upwards of $1,700,” which is well in line with the previously leaked price of $1,799. And to top it off, Google will reportedly be offering a free Pixel Watch to Pixel Fold buyers, in addition to the trade-in option.
According to “internal docs and photos,” Google will say that the Pixel Fold has “the most durable hinge in a foldable.” It will also be marketed as waterproof, though it’s unclear what standard it will adhere to. The external screen will be 5.8 inches, while the internal screen will open up to 7.6 inches.
The device is claimed to weigh 10 ounces (283 grams), and appears to have a larger battery than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4, while also being heavier. In the marketing materials, this is claimed to last for 24 hours, or up to 72 hours on low power mode. The documents also confirm that the Pixel Fold is powered by the Tensor G2 chipset.
The Pixel Fold is expected to be fully revealed during the Google I/O developer conference on May 10th, and according to yesterday’s rumors, it will be available on June 27th.
