Dame Edna Barry Humphreys star in hospital in ‘serious condition’

Peter Ford, an Australian entertainment journalist, claimed Humphreys was “in serious condition but remains comfortable”.

He told the Sunrise Breakfast programme: “Barry is not going to give up easily… I was told Barry’s health has worsened in the last week. This is a complication from his hip replacement surgery and it has been going on for several months.

“Barry is 89 years old, and there are very serious concerns about what happens next.”

Last month, Humphreys told The Sydney Morning Herald that he tripped and fell in February, which led to a hip replacement.

It was the most ridiculous thing, like all domestic accidents. I was going for a book, got my feet stuck on a rug or something, and went downstairs, adding that now he was ‘suffering’.

He said: “The result of my hip fracture means I now have a titanium hip. You can call me ‘Bionic Bazza'”.

Humphries added that he was planning to go back on tour later this year.
