Kuala Lumpur: A moderate earthquake of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale was detected in the sea off Beluran, morning at 9.07 am on Thursday (20 April).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), in a statement, said the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers at co-ordinate 6.6°N, 117.4°E.
“The earthquake occurred 37 km southeast of Petas, Sabah, and 365 km north of Tarakan, Indonesia,” it added.
However, there was no danger of a tsunami in Malaysia. – Bernama
