Several more people have been arrested in connection with the Texas mass shooting that left five people dead on Friday, after suspect Francisco Oropesa was tracked down and arrested on Tuesday.
Fewer than five other individuals were taken into custody, Tim Kane, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office chief deputy, said early Wednesday.
One of the individuals has been identified as the suspect’s wife. It is not clear what charges they may face.
The additional arrests come after Oropesa, 38, was found hiding under a pile of laundry in the closet of a Cut and Shoot home on Tuesday, after the FBI received a tip-off about his whereabouts.
The accused gunman was the focus of a dramatic four-day manhunt following Friday’s shooting that unfolded when his neighbors told him to stop shooting near their home because a child was trying to sleep.
He was alleged to have stormed into his neighbours’ home with an AR-15 and opened fire on those inside.
Sonia Argentina Guzman, 25, her nine-year-old son Daniel Enrique Laso Guzman, Diana Velasquez Alvarado, 21, Julisa Molina Rivera, 31, and Jose Jonathan Casarez, 18, were all killed in the shooting.

1683121200 Gov. Greg Abbott forced to retract ‘illegal immigrant’ comment about shooting Texas victims
Texas Governor Greg Abbott was forced to walk back his remarks describing the victims as “illegal immigrants”.
The Republican governor failed to address mass shootings in his home state for nearly two days.
Then, on Sunday, he finally broke his silence — in a statement announcing that his office was contributing a $50,000 reward for the suspect’s capture, and where he also described the victims as “illegal immigrants.”
Announcing a $50,000 reward for the top 10 TxDPS fugitives illegally present in the country and killing five illegal immigrants on Friday night. I also directed the #OperationLoneStar campaign to search for the criminal and any attempts to flee the country.
The statement immediately sparked a backlash, with social media users quickly shooting the words “people” at him.
On Monday, Mr. Abbott’s office had to retract his comment in an admission that it wasn’t even a factual statement.
“We have since learned that at least one of the victims may have been in the United States legally,” his spokeswoman, Renee Ize, said in a statement on Monday.
“We regret if the information is incorrect and detracts from the important objective of finding and apprehending the criminal.”

Speaking Wednesday morning, San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office deputy chief Tim Kane slammed anyone who helped the suspect flee — saying the people accused of mass murder they had been in contact with had not left the area.
“Anyone who helped this lunatic definitely has some sort of problem as far as I’m concerned,” he said, adding that Mr Oropesa “believes he’s in a safe place.”
He said none of the people arrested in connection with the mass shooting were in the Cut and Shoot home at the time of Mr Oropesa’s arrest.
