They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, we’re sure Nintendo will be completely flattered when it discovers RPG Kung Fu Saga’s latest marketing tactic on mobile, which blatantly rips off some of the new Tears of the Kingdom mechanics like Fuse and Recall (thanks, Nintendouo).
A recent ad for the mobile app shows a green-clad hero (*eyebrow raises*) heading into an “atmospheric dungeon” by riding on a falling piece of debris (*eyebrow raises higher*), before using the new “weapon mount” feature to stick, or should we say “fuse,” a nearby boulder to stick them out and attack a hoard of enemies (*eyebrow peaked, there’s no turning back*). Does this ring any bells?
If these alarms don’t sound for you yet, don’t worry. Reddit user niteowwl posted the ad on the r/tearsofthekingdom page, so you can check it out for yourself below and see if it reminds you of anything…
We already got a copy of the cat game by u/niteowwl at Kingdom’s Tears
Sounds like more than a little Kingdom Tears, right? We’d be very surprised if the app actually plays out like it does in this demo – a mobile game that uses a cinematic trailer with no mention of gameplay? Can you imagine like this?? — but using these Zelda mechanics in such a blatant way is probably very important from Nintendo’s point of view.
Yeah, we think we’ll stick to the official tears of the kingdom, thanks.
What do you think of this mobile version of the cat? Let us know in the comments.
