Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fights John Ryder in Guadalajara tonight, defending his undisputed super bantamweight titles in a much-anticipated homecoming.

It was Canelo’s first fight in Mexico since 2011 and his first since his points victory over Gennady Golovkin in September. Canelo, 32, retained his belt in that bout to clinch a hat-trick with Golovkin, once again coming back from his first loss in nine years – a points defeat at the hands of lightweight champ Dmitry Bivol. Another victory tonight will only add to the excitement in the rematch against the Russians.

Meanwhile, Ryder enters Mexico as the interim WBO champion, having beaten Zack Parker one last time. Parker fractured his hand in the fourth round in November, as Ryder recorded a fourth straight win. Prior to that contest, Britain’s biggest victory was their victory over Daniel Jacobs the previous February. The 34-year-old is undoubtedly the underdog in tonight’s main event but is determined to prove the doubters wrong.

Meanwhile, Canelo is aiming for an emphatic win to not only remain champion but also to stay on track for a rematch with Bivol.

Gollaz needs to win this round, for sure, despite a knockout in his favor earlier in the fight.

Spark was the busier guy and landed heavier, cleaner shots all the time.

And we get to the final bell, a very interesting fight, even if it lacks an exclamation mark.

Spark sure did enough, despite getting a knee in the sixth.
