Coronation live: William and Kate in Windsor as thousands gather for street parties

There are still many weekend long culmination events to come after yesterday’s historic showing of the contest.

Today, neighbors and communities across the UK are invited to share food and fun together as part of the grand coronation lunch.

Later, starting at 20:00 GMT, the Coronation Ball will showcase the country’s diverse cultural heritage in music, theater and dance. Kirsty Young will present the live coverage for BBC TV and BBC iPlayer and Clara Ampho and Jordan Banjo will be behind the scenes with the artists.

The concert will see a world-class orchestra play a range of musical favourites, and will also include, for the first time ever, a joint performance from the Royal Ballet, Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal College of Music and Royal College of Art.

As part of the show, ten locations across the UK including Blackpool, Sheffield, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Gateshead, Cornwall and Belfast will be lit up in live sequence as part of Lighting the Nation.
