Prince Harry is back in California after boarding a British Airways flight, hours after his father’s historic coronation ended.

The Duke of Sussex arrived at Los Angeles International Airport around 7.30pm local time on Saturday (3:30am UK time) to be reunited with his son for his birthday.

Prince Archie turned four on Saturday and spent the day with his mother, the Duchess of Sussex, at their US home.

British Airways flight attendants confirmed to the PA news agency that Harry was on the flight but said they were not allowed to discuss the details of his flight.

The Duke’s appearance at the coronation was his first public appearance alongside the royal family since he made allegations about his family in his controversial memoir Spear.

He was sitting in the third row at King Charles’ coronation alongside Prince Andrew, who has stepped away from public life after a disastrous Newsnight interview in November 2019 in which he discussed his friendship with pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Harry and Andrew are seated two rows behind Prince William.

Harry chatted with his cousin Princess Beatrice and her husband, Eduardo Mapelli Mozzi, as they entered church on Saturday in the rainy UK.

He also nodded and smiled at the guests as he tackled behind them, walking down the abbey nave alone.

It is understood that the Duke was dressed as he was told to wear, which consisted of a dark-coloured morning suit and tie, his Afghanistan and Jubilee medals pinned to his tunic, and a star of the Royal Victorian Order and neck ornament.

During the service, as the congregation paid homage to the King, Harry, with other royals around him, was seen speaking the words: “God save King Charles. Long live King Charles. May the King live forever.”

His sudden return to the United States meant he did not appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the end of the day, as the palace had earlier confirmed that it had no official role in the event.

Prince Andrew was also absent from the balcony.
