Verstappen took his third F1 win in 2023, beating Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez despite starting from ninth on the grid.
The Dutchman cut across the court with ease before showing a sharp pace on the hard tyre.
Verstappen won the race by going long on the hard tyre, eventually stopping on Lap 46 for media.
Within two laps, he passed Pérez for the lead before opening up a comfortable gap, securing the fastest lap in the process.
His latest win means he now equals Sebastian Vettel’s tally of 38 wins for Red Bull.
Coincidentally, Vettel’s dominance in 2013 has led to him being booed on a number of occasions.
Verstappen was booed during the pre-race and post-race ceremony.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the race on Sunday, Verstappen was upbeat in his response.
“If I was driving in the back,” he said, “nobody would do anything in terms of reaction.”

“I think it’s normal for you to win and they don’t like winning.
“It’s something for me and it’s totally fine as long as I’m standing on top.
“For me, the most important thing is that I take the trophy home and they go home and they can…have a nice evening.”
Verstappen has been booed on three occasions in 2022 – at Silverstone, Monza and the Circuit of the Americas.
