Bernand, 59, has taken royal portraits for more than 20 years and was behind the lens in the official snapshots after the weddings of the then Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles at Windsor Castle in 2005 and Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Buckingham Palace in 2011.

It was a “family moment,” he told The Telegraph, adding to the photos: “We keep it nice, tight, and relaxed.”

In his message, the King said: “As the coronation holiday draws to a close, my wife and I just wanted to share our heartfelt and heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the occasion so special.

“We particularly commend the countless people who have given their time and dedication to ensuring that celebrations in London, Windsor and elsewhere are as happy, safe and enjoyable as possible.

“To those who took part in the festivities – whether at home, at street parties and lunches, or by volunteering in the communities – we thank you, every one.”

He added: “To know we had your support and encouragement, and to witness your kindness expressed in so many different ways, was the greatest possible coronation gift, as we now rededicate our lives to the service of the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.”
