No damage or injuries were reported after the Santa Monica earthquake

The quake reportedly occurred 4.3 miles below the epicenter at 8:05 a.m. Monday.

These two agencies told the Santa Monica Mirror that the City of Santa Monica Office of Emergency Management and the Los Angeles Fire Department have not received reports of damage following the 3.4-magnitude earthquake near Santa Monica on Monday.

The quake reportedly struck 4.3 miles below the epicenter at 8:05 a.m. and was likely felt as a slight shaking by many people in the area.

The shaking could be felt in the towns and cities of Malibu, Topanga, Calabasas, Santa Monica, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Englewood, Hawthorne, Burbank and Los Angeles.

“The LAFD remained in normal operation following the seismic event… and did not receive any 9-1-1 calls or other related service requests,” a LAFD spokesperson said in an email. “Although it is conceivable that some types of damage or injury occurred within or outside our jurisdiction, our agency is not aware of any.”
