A lame, rubber-clad man accused of terrorizing villagers in the West Country was found with a knife in his truck after an accident in which he left a woman terrorized, the court has been told.

Joshua Hunt, 31, who lives with his parents in a small village in Somerset, has been remanded in custody after allegedly terrorizing two women by jumping on them on country lanes in a rubber suit.

One of the women described in court as “terrified” while the other said she was “terrified”.

Hunt, of Brook Farm, Claverham, appeared at North Somerset Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with two counts of affray, one count of possession of a white piece and one count of public decency.

He is accused of approaching two women on two separate occasions on 7 May and 9 May 2022 in the Blydon area.

Summing up the alleged incidents of fights, Liane Joffre KC, the public prosecutor, told the court: “These two cases were female, and both were very distressing.

One describes herself as “very sad” and the other as “horrified”.

She told the court that police found a “locking knife” in the defendant’s truck when searching it following the May 9 incident.

In a separate incident on 25 October last year, relating to an offense of public decency charge, the court heard Mr Hunt had left two friends “heartbroken” after he allegedly approached them while wearing a lame suit, rubbing their genitals against his clothes.

“The police received a 999 call from a witness who reported that the accused had approached him in a lame case. The witness was with a friend,” the public prosecutor told the court.

She added that he was wearing “what is known as a gimp suit” made of “a shiny black material”.

Hunt appeared in court on Wednesday wearing a gray tracksuit and made no mention of any pleas to the charges against him.

When Mrs. Gopher asked for the defendant to be locked up, he was seen shaking his head vigorously.

She told the court that he had made comments about his suicide, and that the Public Prosecution Service was concerned for his safety.

Defending him, David Vanson said his client was not fit to give him instructions and is currently “on probation” in custody.

Mr Hunt has been placed in remand and will appear at Bristol Crown Court on 7 June.
