A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck western Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with its epicenter in the eastern Pajhang district, officials said.

According to the National Seismological Center of Nepal, an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded at 4.06 am in the eastern Pajhang district, located 450 kilometers west of Kathmandu.

The earthquake was also felt in areas around Baihang in western Nepal.

Authorities said there were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage.

Earthquakes occur frequently in the mountainous regions of Nepal. In April, two earthquakes of moderate intensity measuring 5.2 and 4.1 on the Richter scale rocked the Himalayan country.

In April 2015, a devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people and injuring about 22,000 others. More than 800,000 homes and school buildings were also destroyed.
