An earthquake was felt in many parts of Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said that a 5.2-magnitude earthquake occurred 70 km southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan, at around 10.19 am.

The epicenter was the border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and it originated at a depth of 223 kilometers, which greatly reduced its devastating impact, according to the National Seismic Monitor in Islamabad.
The earthquake was also felt in Srinagar and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. The quake was reported at 11:19 a.m. at “latitude: 36.56, longitude: 71.13, depth: 220 km” in Afghanistan. said the National Seismological Center.
Shocks were also reported in Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, Haripur, Malakand, Abbottabad, Patgram, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Taxila, Band Dadan Khan and several other parts of the country.
No loss of life or property has been reported so far. Pakistan often experiences earthquakes of varying magnitude.
More than 74,000 people were killed in the deadliest earthquake in Pakistan in 2005.
On Friday, a strong earthquake struck Tokyo and other parts of eastern Japan, but no tsunami warning was issued. The US Geological Survey said the 6.1-magnitude quake was centered off the eastern coast of the Chiba Peninsula at a depth of 44.5 kilometers.
Strong shaking was reported in Chiba and Ibaraki prefectures, but the USGS said there was little chance of serious damage or fatalities.
