A 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck New Zealand’s Auckland Islands, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The magnitude of Wednesday’s earthquake was initially reported at 5.7 but was later revised.

New Zealand’s GeoNet monitoring agency said the quake hit at a depth of 33 kilometres. There was no immediate tsunami warning, and there were no reports of damage on the New Zealand mainland.

In April, three earthquakes, one with a magnitude of 7.2, occurred in the seas off the North Island.

The strongest hit in the region of the Kermadec Islands.

The Auckland Islands are located 465 km south of Port Bluff on the South Island of New Zealand.
