Bournemouth beach cleanup as multiple emergency services rescue several people from the water

Bournemouth Beach in Dorset has been evacuated due to an ongoing incident.

Emergency services decreased around 4:32 p.m. on Wednesday (May 31).

An emergency service worker on the ground told ITV Meridian that several people had been pulled from the water.

At this time they are believed to have been infected – but the severity is unknown. Nobody thinks he’s dead

An eyewitness, speaking with ITV Meridian, said they saw three people – possibly teenagers – being pulled out of the water.

Several ambulances, police cars and two air ambulances were called ashore.

A Coast Guard helicopter has also been seen in the area – along with its entrapment in the water.

Groups of emergency service workers were also seen gathering on the beach. It is not known at this point what happened.

Fire crews from Westbourne and Springbourne were also present, along with a technical rescue team from Poole.

In a statement issued to ITV News Meridian, a Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 4.32pm on Wednesday 31st May 2023 from the Ambulance Service seeking assistance on the beach off Bournemouth Pier.

“Officers are currently attending to clear the area to assist HM Coast Guard and Ambulance Service, who are dealing with the incident.”

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service issued the following statement: “We have been called to East Beach, Bournemouth at 4.39pm for multi agency incident support.

“We have crews in attendance from Westbourne and Springbourne, along with a technical rescue team from Poole.”
