Manchester United defender Raphael Varane said they do not fear Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland, despite his prolific campaign so far.
Haaland has scored 52 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for City this season, helping them win the Premier League and reach the Champions League and FA Cup finals. However, Varane is feeling confident ahead of United’s clash with city rivals at Wembley tomorrow.
“Fear? No escape… Why?” he said when asked about Haaland. “Yes, he’s a very good player, we all know that. But the danger from City is everywhere, they’re so complete.
“They can score from the play set, from the possession game and from a transitional game. As a defender, the contact [Haaland has] Especially with De Bruyne – this type of pass is complicated to defend, so we try to break that connection.
“We know we can beat them. We have to be consistent for 90 minutes because we know everything can change in a few seconds. We have to be positive, we’re in good shape. But the most important thing is to believe.”
