A 14-year-old boy has died after an ‘isolated incident’ at a school in West Lothian.
It happened at St Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called at around 1.20pm and the boy was taken to hospital but later died.
Police Scotland said investigations into the circumstances of his death were still ongoing.
The school confirmed that emergency services were called after an “isolated incident within the school grounds”.
“All parents of directly affected pupils have been contacted and we are assisting the relevant authorities with their ongoing inquiries,” a statement on their website said.
The school said it could not give more details at this time due to a police investigation.
“We have created ongoing emotional support and counseling signs for students and staff affected by this tragic news,” said Andrew Sharkey, the school’s principal.
“We would like to respect the family’s privacy at this very painful time.”
