A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hits Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture

The Japan Meteorological Agency said that a strong earthquake with an initial magnitude of 6.2 and a depth of 140 km hit Hokkaido Prefecture in northern Japan on Sunday evening.

The agency said the epicenter was off the coast of the town of Urakawa, adding that no tsunami warning had been issued.
