Jammu and Kashmir has been hit by four earthquakes in one day

Jammu and Kashmir was hit by four consecutive earthquakes on Wednesday. The constant shaking of the earth due to successive earthquakes caused devastation in the area as people panicked. It is worth noting that the series of earthquakes hit the region after a 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit the Doda area in Utah on Tuesday. To date, no loss of life or property damage has been reported.

In Kishtwaram, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake was reported at 8:29 a.m., with the epicenter at a depth of five kilometers, according to the National Center of Seismology (NCS).

Nearly half an hour ago, 3.5-magnitude tremors were recorded in Doda at 7.56 am with the epicenter at a depth of 10 km. Before the two earthquakes, two more earthquakes were recorded in the early hours of the day as well.

Another 4.3-magnitude earthquake jolted the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir with a depth of 10 kilometers at 2:20 am, according to the data.

The other quake, which measured 2.8 on the Richter scale, occurred 74 kilometers east of Katra in the Resi district at 2.43 am, according to the NCS. The epicenter was located at a depth of five kilometers.

The earthquake occurred at around 2:20 am at a depth of 10 km and 81 km northeast of Katra. It should be noted that Delhi also felt its tremors.

The National Center of Seismology said in a tweet on Twitter: “An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck 81 kilometers northeast of Katra, Jammu and Kashmir at approximately 2.20 am today.” Three days ago, Arunachal Pradesh was hit by another earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale. A mild earthquake has struck West Caming District in Arunachal Pradesh. On 9 June, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake also hit Ladakh.

Tuesday’s earthquake destroyed several buildings in the mountainous districts of Doda and Kishtwar. Furthermore, five people, including two schoolchildren, were injured. While schools were closed due to precautionary measures by the administration.

Tuesday’s earthquake was widely felt in the Jammu and Kashmir region and neighboring countries. According to NCS data analysis of the past five years of earthquakes, most of them occurred in the vicinity of Doda district, which was the result of seismic activity.
