Young star Brett Hadley passed away at the age of 92, confirmed on Friday.

While no official cause of death has been announced, the beloved actor is said to have passed away on Wednesday.

His girlfriend, photographer Mary Ann Halpin, posted the news on Facebook, writing, “It is with a heavy heart that I have to say goodbye to my beautiful friend Brett Hadley.”

‘We were in acting class and we were the bad kids in the class,’ recalled Halpin, who had known Hadley since he was 19. We sat in the back and laughed.

She added, “I will miss his hilarious and deep conversation, his funny squishy laugh and his sparkling eyes.” He took his last bow and gracefully left us yesterday.

Born September 25, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, Hadley had eyes on an acting career early on, studying drama at the University of New Mexico.

He worked on stage and was also an actor in a staffing role on television during the 1960s and 1970s, landing guest spots on many high-profile programmes.

Hadley has appeared on shows such as Room 222, Ironside, The Magical World Of Disney, Kojak, The Rockford Files, and The Incredible Hulk.

Over the same two decades, he scored small parts in films including Funny Lady, the sequel to Barbra Streisand’s iconic vehicle, Funny Girl.

However, in 1980 he joined The Young And The Restless, which has been endearing him to series fans ever since.

In 216 episodes of the CBS daytime drama, Hadley can be seen portraying the patriarch of the William Carle family, a hardened police detective.

Although he left the show after a decade in 1991, he made a sensational return in 1998 and spent another year on the show before leaving for good.

During Hadley’s years away, Carl was still mentioned in the show, with various characters noting that he was “in the other room”.

However, when Hadley returned to the series in 1998, it was explained that Carl had been badly beaten by a criminal, disappeared and then returned with amnesia.

Apparently, Carl started a second life under the name Jim Bradley, not remembering anything about his Williams family.

In the aftermath of Bradby’s death, a chorus of his old co-stars from The Young And The Restless took part in a Soap Opera Digest.

“He was a pleasure to work with and was a happy, upbeat presence in the halls and on set,” Beth Maitland recalled.

He was an old-fashioned man. Always professional, yet full of interesting stories and laughter, and always a joy to be on stage.”

“His memory speaks of a happy time, when soap operas were at their heyday and actors were legendary and larger than life.”

Kate Linder said: “Brett was an amazing actor. He definitely owned the role. I can still hear his voice. There will never be another Carl Williams.”

“Brett was the sweetest guy,” Lorale Bell gushed. “The biggest smile and reliability of him and Doug Davidson being father and son has never been!”
