Max Verstappen completed another crushing performance to win the Canadian Grand Prix and match Ayrton Senna’s tally of 41 victories.
The Dutchman led every lap of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit to tie Senna and extend the championship lead.
Fernando Alonso finished second for Aston Martin, while Lewis Hamilton finished third for Mercedes. Hamilton’s team mate George Russell retired on lap 55 of 70 after an earlier roll in the wall.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were fourth and fifth respectively with Ferrari and Sergio Perez sixth. Alex Albon crossed the line a commendable seventh in his Williams. Verstappen, who took Red Bull’s 100th Formula 1 victory, now leads Perez by 69 points on his unstoppable run to win a hat-trick of titles.

F1 CANADIAN GRAND PRIX – UPDATES View 1687124401’s latest update, Red Bull boss Adrian Newey:
“It’s been an amazing ride, my dream as a kid was to be a racing car engineer. First job and first salary was the big moment, everything else is a bonus.
“All the wins are special. The first one in Mexico stands out. The one where the tournament fell on the wire. Oftentimes Abu Dhabi, with Sebastian against Fernando, then Max against Luis.
“I’m lucky enough to do what I’ve always wanted to do, I loved it. My career can’t go on forever. As long as the team wants me and I’m enjoying it, I’ll keep going, but realistically it’s about to count down!”

Christian Horner, President of the Red Bull:
“To have a century of wins is an incredible achievement. 100 races is a lot – but 100 wins. That’s 24% of the races we’ve entered.
“We take it one step at a time. So many things can go wrong. There are so many variables in this game. Max is driving out of his skin right now. Collectively, the group is doing a tremendous job.”

Lewis Hamilton after finishing P3:
“It’s been a great weekend for us, we’ve been cutting slowly. Aston were ahead this weekend with the upgrades.
“It’s such an honor to be out there with two world champions, excited to be third and in the mix. We didn’t have the pace today. We knew this wasn’t going to be our strongest circuit, we struggle in the slow-speed corners.
“We have a lot of work to do to add rear downforce to the bottom of the car. I think we’ll get there at some point.”

“We were hoping to challenge Red Bull but we lost a position to Lewis. But I couldn’t rest, Mercedes was pushing. It was a very hard and hard race. 70 laps of qualifying today.”

“Very happy. It wasn’t a very straightforward race, as the tires weren’t going into their window. We made it work – winning the team’s 100th Grand Prix is incredible.”
On No. 100: “It’s amazing. I didn’t expect to be on that kind of number myself!”
