Human remains found in the mountains have been identified as those of Julian Sands, as the British actor went missing during an outing last January.

Julian Sands was confirmed dead after his remains were found on Saturday, with police saying the remains have been positively identified.

It comes after hikers said they found remains in the area on Saturday.

Hikers called the police, who found the remains in the Mount Baldy area early Saturday morning.

A statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said, “The identification process for the body found in Mount Baldy on June 24, 2023 was completed, and she was positively identified as 65-year-old Julianne Sands of North Hollywood.

He added, “The method of death is still under investigation, pending further examination results.

“We would like to express our gratitude to all of the volunteers who worked tirelessly to try to locate Mr. Sands.”

The 65-year-old, who starred in A Room With A View, disappeared in the Bawdy Bowl area of ​​the San Gabriel Mountains on January 13.

He was not found despite an extensive search using drones and helicopters as his family feared he was dead.

Mr. Sands had gone for a walk in the area on January 13th but failed to return.

The search found his Volvo covered in snow near Mount Baldy. The effort was hampered by circumstances and had to be postponed in March due to fear of avalanches.

Recently, his family released a statement saying that he is “kept in our hearts with bright memories.”

On Wednesday, the relatives said: “We are extremely grateful to the search teams and coordinators who worked tirelessly to find Julien.

“We still hold Julian in our hearts with bright memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative performer.”

Previously, his brother Nick Sands told the Yorkshire newspaper The Telegraph & Argus that the Baldy Bowl area in the mountains was his “favorite place” in Los Angeles.
