Magnitude 4.3 earthquake in Kahramanmaras

A 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit Kahramanmaras at 8.28 on June 29, 2023, Azarnews reports, citing Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

The Disaster and Emergency Management Department indicated that the epicenter of the quake was in the Gokson region of Kahramanmaras, and that the depth reached 6.98 kilometers.

As a reminder, a magnitude of 7.8 hit southern Turkey and northern Syria in February 2023. Kahramanmaraş was one of the regions that suffered great losses. According to official data, 59,259 people died and 121,704 were injured in the earthquake in February. The economic damage amounted to $118.8 billion.
