The reason why Indonesia is very prone to earthquakes and volcanoes is because of its geographical location. It is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire. It is the belt of land that surrounds the Pacific Ocean and is roughly horseshoe shaped.

This particular seismic region is very active because this is where the different tectonic plates on Earth’s crust meet. In general, there is consensus in the scientific community as to which regions make up the Ring of Fire. Indonesia is located at the junction of the Alpide Belt and the Ring of Fire.
