Netflix announced the September 21 premiere date for Sex Education season 4 and confirmed that it will be the series’ last.

As reported by Variety, Sex Education creator, head writer and executive producer Laurie Nunn has announced the end of the show in a heartfelt message to fans.

“Writing this feels bittersweet, as we have decided that the fourth season will also be the final installment of our show,” she said. This wasn’t an easy decision, but as the new season’s themes and stories took shape, it became clear that now was the right time to graduate.

“We are incredibly proud of Sex Education and so grateful to our brilliant writers and crew who put so much effort into making each episode. They worked tirelessly to bring you this final season, and we can’t wait to share it with you.”

A minute-long trailer for the final season has been released on Netflix’s YouTube, which shows Otis (played by Asa Butterfield) and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) on the first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College.

In our 8/10 review of season 3, IGN said, “Sex Education delivered another winning season of raw comedy, heartwarming sentiments, and romantic entanglements.”
