Three major earthquakes since midnight

[ad_1]

Three major earthquakes have been reported since midnight in Reykjanes Peninsula. The first was a magnitude of 4.1, and occurred just after midnight last night, and the second, a magnitude of 4.2, occurred around midnight this morning.

Then, just before 9:30 this morning, an earthquake occurred, indicating that its magnitude was above 4.2 magnitude.

Any volcanic disturbance is still being measured, and magma still appears to be trying to break through the crust, according to a Met Office natural hazards expert. The earthquakes that occurred yesterday were due to earthquakes in areas outside the magma dam.

The earthquake is located at a depth of less than 1 kilometer and at this stage it is difficult to determine the depth more precisely than that. The ground shook yesterday and the larger earthquake was well felt by people in the metropolitan area with a magnitude of 4.5.
