The story of Jordan Henderson and his move to Saudi Arabia is fluid and ever-changing, and the latest one brings news of a £700,000-a-week salary with serious consideration.

The truth is, the Liverpool captain could move away from Anfield this summer.

Earlier this week we explained how Henderson has not been in talks with Steven Gerrard’s Ettifaq squad.

But on Wednesday night things turned upside down with reports that the 33-year-old was “leaning towards” a move.

We all know the lure of astronomical salaries from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Henderson is said to have been offered four times his wages at Liverpool (£190,000), in the range of £700,000 to £760,000 per week.

Say it out loud, it’s outrageous and few wouldn’t think of it.

Dominic King in the Mail and sportscaster David Ornstein said the Englishman was “imminently making a decision”.

Fabrizio Romano follows up by saying Henderson will speak to Jurgen Klopp on Thursday – oh, to be a fly on the wall.

Should he wish to join Gerrard, talks would take place between the two clubs – which has yet to happen.

But Liverpool will not stand by and allow pennies to be paid, it must be beneficial to them if they are going to lose their captain and a valuable homegrown player.

When Henderson’s yells and a move came in, it looked like 2021 when interest from competitors surfaced and he seemed to be tapped into a new contract – Ornstein was among those breaking story at the time.

This time it’s the obvious assurances the captain wants, but it’s far from clear as Klopp oversees the rebuilding of his midfield.

But it looks like we won’t have to wait long for Henderson to make up his mind.

Though, it’s important to note what the Athletic rightly note in their report, that Henderson has long been a staunch advocate and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. In Saudi Arabia, homosexuality is illegal.
