Concerns about Russian nuclear submarines after the Wagner revolution

[ad_1]

Vladimir Putin offered Wagner’s mercenaries the chance to continue fighting in Russia just days after they staged a coup against the military leaders.

The Russian president made the offer last month during a meeting with the militants and their founder Yevgeny Prigozhin last month, according to Russia’s Kommersant newspaper.

Under the offer, made five days after the paramilitary group marched 125 miles from Moscow, the fighters would remain under the command of their current commander, identified only by his call sign “gray hair.”

However, the deal was apparently rejected by Prigozhin, who said: “No, the boys will not agree to such a decision.”

It comes as the Pentagon said Wagner mercenaries were no longer fighting “in any significant capacity” in Ukraine.
