4.3 magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan]July 15: A 4.3-magnitude earthquake struck 185 kilometers south-southeast of Faizabad, Afghanistan, on Saturday, the National Center of Seismology (NCS) reported.

According to the NCS, the quake occurred at 12:49 a.m. IST on Saturday. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 215 km.

NCS tweeted, “Magnitude 4.3 earthquake, occurred on 15-07-2023, 00:49:39 IST, Latitude: 35.52 and Long: 71.20, Depth: 215km, Location: 185km SE of Faizabad, Afghanistan.”

There have been no reports of material damage or injuries yet.

Earlier on June 26, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck southeast of the city of Faizabad, Afghanistan, according to the National Center of Seismology (NCS). The earthquake recorded a depth of 31 km.

The network control station said the quake occurred at 12:16 am (Indian Time) and the epicenter was at latitude – 36.43 and longitude – 71.48 respectively.
