Inter Miami’s first game with Lionel Messi was a memorable one, and David Beckham was a little touchy during and after Messi’s winning goal.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham was left on the verge of tears after Lionel Messi’s injury-time win in his new deal’s debut.

Messi was substituted off the bench in the 54th minute of the League Cup match against Cruz Azul to make his MLS debut and make it a memorable one.

The Argentine volleyed a stunning free kick into the top left corner in the 94th minute to avoid the match going to penalties.

The goal sealed the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner’s Hollywood debut, even tugging at partner Malik Beckham’s heart.

The England legend, who watched the match from the stands with his wife Victoria, was seen with tears in his eyes, and emotion bursting out on goal.

David Beckham, the owner of Inter Miami, attended the match with his wife, Victoria Beckham, and the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star appeared in tears after Lionel Messi’s victory.

He did not finish playing the moment after the final whistle.

“To be honest, as soon as I saw the free kick awarded, I thought, ‘This is how it’s supposed to end,'” he said in Abel’s season pass.

Especially when you have players like Leo and Sergio [Busquets] On the pitch – that’s what they produce.

“It’s a very exciting night for our fans,” he continued. “All these people, who came here to see Leo step on the pitch – not to mention do what he did. Honestly Sergio’s performance was amazing.

“But you know it’s a dream come true for everyone in this stadium to see, and everyone across this country to see Leo step into MLS and perform. I don’t have many words for that.

Beckham – no stranger to a late free-kick himself – last played professionally in 2013 as he finished his gilded career with Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi came on in the 54th minute and it didn’t take long to produce a memorable moment as he celebrated with his family after the goal which came in front of 21,000 fans in Florida.

And he found that the experience of watching the League Cup match helplessly from the stands was difficult before Messi’s victory.

“It’s terrible… watching these games it is – as a former player you get frustrated. As a player you can do something about it if you’re losing, when you’re an owner you can’t.

‘But tonight is about people. It comes to this. That’s what we’ve always seen as our vision, Jorge, José and I, and the club.

‘And that is what we saw.’ So this is a special night for us, the fans, everyone in this stadium, and you guys. It’s a moment for this country. It’s a moment for this league. It is a very proud moment for us.
