Manchester United ‘will turn their attention to Ajax star Mohamed Kodos if they fail to land Rasmus Hooglund from Atalanta’

Manchester United will reportedly turn their attention to Ajax striker Mohamed Koudos if he fails in his attempts to take on Atalanta’s Rasmus Hooglund.

As reported by Mail Sport on Monday, Danish striker Hojlund, who scored nine goals in Serie A last season, remains Manchester United’s top target.

The Red Devils have been in talks with Atalanta for weeks and it is understood that an inaugural offer is imminent, but they will refuse to submit an offer of more than £60m.

According to the Mirror, Kudus is on the list of potential replacements along with Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Chelsea have already held talks over a move for the attacking midfielder, with Arsenal and Brighton also expressing interest.

Manchester United are said to be turning their attention to Ajax striker Mohamed Kodos, and Chelsea have made contact with Ajax attacking midfielder Kodos, with Arsenal also interested.

Kudos was acquired by Ajax in 2020 for £8m after impressing during his time at former club FC Nordsjylland.

The Ghana international is off to a slow start in Amsterdam, as he struggles to assert his place in the team behind Anthony, who left for Manchester United in 2022.

Kudos was second best in the standings, but upon the Brazilian’s departure, he thrived at the Dutch club, scoring 11 times in 30 league games last season.

He was an integral part of Ajax during their run in the Champions League last year as well, scoring in four of their six matches in the competition, notably scoring against Liverpool at Anfield.

Kudus is capable of playing in attacking midfield, on the wings as well as up front, and his versatility will be attractive to Erik ten Hag.

United have already bolstered their midfield with the signing of Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea for £60m.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana also joined the club last week following the departure of former No. 1 player David De Gea.
