Melvin Gordon thinks Aaron Rodgers will stay in Green Bay despite Bronco trade rumors

Aaron Rodgers is not with the Green Bay Packers as they started the mandatory mini camp this week, but the ruling NFL MVP remains a member of the organization as it currently is. Of course, it all comes after Rodgers made it clear that he wanted to be traded away from the Lambo and move from the club he’s spent his entire professional career with up to this point. With that commercial demand continuing to fly around the Packers, one of the popular destinations for the Rodgers that has been assumed is the Denver Broncos.

They were among the teams that immediately appeared as Rodgers’ landing spot was announced around the time of his pending divorce from the Packers on draft day and were one of the frontrunners when considering betting odds for the 37-year-old house. While Denver acquired veteran Teddy Bridgewater in a deal with the Panthers earlier this season to compete with quarterback Drew Luke for a third year, neither has been created enough to disqualify the club from pursuing Rodgers if Green Bay makes him available.

As for whether or not Rodgers will be the Broncos when week one begins, one of Denver’s current players isn’t holding his breath.

“In terms of Aaron Rodgers, I honestly think he’s staying with Green Bay,” Melvin Gordon said in an interview with “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network on Wednesday. “…I think he’ll stay there, man. You can’t really see him in any other color. But who would be upset about having Aaron Rodgers? But we don’t have him, so we have to roll with Teddy, we have to roll with Drew, so whatever our man is He is our man.”

This is the right mindset to have if you’re a Gordon (and the Broncos for that matter). While Denver would certainly become a Rodgers player if the Packers put him on hold, there’s no guarantee that this will happen. Up until this point, Green Bay has been reluctant to open the doors to a potential Rodgers deal. However, team boss Mark Murphy recently noted that this story surrounding the club has “divided our fan base”, which could be an initial sign that things could swing in that direction.

Again, should the Broncos simply wait for Rodgers to reach the block? of course not. Which is why the club – and players like Gordon – should focus on Bridgewater and Luke, two quarterbacks already on the roster. If anything changes with Rodgers, the club can pivot and try to get one of the best signal callers in the league. Right now, however, it’s a two-middle contender for Vic Fangio to sort it out.
