Ice Gerrit Cole put the cheating rumors to rest by writing off nine over six innings. Two of those hits came against Twins slugger Josh Donaldson, who dumped Cole under the bus over the weekend by accusing the right hand of lowering his turnover.
This did not align with Kai.
“I’ll tell you what. What Michael Kay is going to do, and I’m not defending him, please don’t think I’m defending him, but I think Chris Carlin said that at the end of the show yesterday with us. Josh Donaldson gets one in the ribs right to open his mouth. Why are you jumping me? So?” Cole said that was drooping fruit, because he’s the guy with the big knot. He gets one in the ribs right in the first half. Right in the ribs. You want to talk Try talking with a broken rib.”
Cole chose not to throw out Donaldson and chose to let his novel speak for him. The right-hander gave up two rounds in his seventh win of the season. Donaldson finished zero to 5 with these two hits.
