Top media headlines for June 10
Dr. Fauci equates the GOP’s criticism of him with “attacks on the flag,” Griff Jenkins speaking to a Rio Grande river smuggler, and Barry Weiss criticizing her former colleagues in the New York Times about today’s media headlines.
Twitter has taken a hit after CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Tobin first went on air after being fired from the New Yorker over the Zoom masturbation scandal last fall.
“At least CNN is now honest about no journalistic standards whatsoever. Such honesty should be liberated!” National magazine contributor Pradheep J. Shanker reacted.
Megan McCain of “The View” criticized the network, saying: “This is rubbish.” “Why is the media protecting these white male dinosaurs in this industry? No woman on the planet will ever be welcomed back on network television after she was caught masturbating in front of her colleagues.”
“I never imagined I’d see an effort on the network to rehabilitate a man who was caught dragging her in front of female colleagues, but this is CNN,” radio host Dana Loach wrote in a tweet.
CNN’s Jeffrey Oban tackles AWKWARD’s ZOOM MASTURBATION scandal by returning to the network: ‘I didn’t think’
Informed media reporter Claire Atkinson wrote: “Great does not completely cover this interview.
“This guy must have had some dirt on someone with power because that’s beyond that,” confirmed Jorge Rivas, a former Splinter News journalist.
“Laura Coats is supposed to be moved backwards to create Lupine’s airtime,” New York Times reporter Katie Rosman predicted on the situation of another senior CNN legal analyst.
Other critics have highlighted that CNN is the same network that left its liberal star anchor Chris Cuomo off the hook after it was revealed he had been advising his brother, Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, amid the sexual misconduct scandal he committed but left. Republican contributor Rick Santorum for his remarks about Native Americans.
CNN is silent because Jeffrey Oppen had “ six months off after the ZOOM MASTURBATION scandal
“You can lie in front of your co-workers or help your brother cover up allegations of sexual harassment and you’ll be safe knowing that CNN won’t fire you yet,” Stephen Miller wrote.
“It’s baffling that Rick Santorum had to leave, but Cuomo, after all he’s done, and Tobin, after what he’s done, is okay. CNN standards are pathetic,” said Scott Whitlock, Associate Editor of NewsBusters.
Tara Reade, a former Senate staffer who last year filed a sexual assault allegation against Joe Biden, tore up the liberal network.
Jeffrey Oppen will ‘probably’ return to CNN after death of masturbation scandal, insider says
“CNN always takes deviants back, but you crush sexual assault survivors when they come forward,” Reid wrote. “Your outlet is a misogynistic, xenophobic weapon of @TheDemocrats Foundation. Hypocrisy and bad taste are rampant.”
Notably, CNN avoided Reade’s claims for an entire month on the air.
Even a CNN contributor mocked the network’s decision to roll out the red carpet for Toobin.
“She told me I could have had this career *and* just fans,” Mary Catherine Hamm, one of CNN’s few conservative commentators, joked.
Tobin, who was quickly fired from The New Yorker last year for his behavior, heard that daytime presenter Alesin Camerota received a very embarrassing “honours” in describing what happened and its consequences. Toobin was witnessed by his colleagues exposing himself and masturbating on a Zoom call to employees, which led to widespread mockery of the veteran journalist.
“What the hell were you thinking?” asked Camerota during the in-person interview, not the Zoom one.
Looks like Hayes is laughing on CNN’s JEFFREY TOOBIN
“Well, obviously, I wasn’t thinking too well or too much, and it was something inexplicable to me. I guess one point – I wouldn’t say it exactly in my defense, because there’s nothing really in my defense. I didn’t think I was on the call. I wasn’t I think others can see me,” he said, placing his hands on the table.
Toobin claimed that The New Yorker’s investigation prior to its launch found no further complaints against him, although this was not a sex scandal for him. Tobin had a child in 2009 with Casey Greenfield, the daughter of Tobin’s CNN co-star Jeff Greenfield.
Tobin urged Greenfield to have an abortion, and he was later taken to court after he denied the baby was his. Tobin was forced to take a DNA test that proved he was the child’s biological father and was ordered to pay child support.

“Do you think… that the punishment fits the crime?” Camerota asked about his expulsion.
“I am the worst person to ask that question,” he said. “I mean, obviously, I love The New Yorker. I loved working there. I felt like a very good contributor to that magazine for a very long time, and I thought this punishment was excessive, but look, you know, that’s why they don’t ask the criminal to be the judge.” In his case. I mean, I think it was an excessive punishment. I’m so grateful to CNN for bringing me back.”
