Former President Donald Trump on Thursday wished Biden luck in his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin — and also encouraged him to stay awake.
“Good luck to Biden in dealing with President Putin – do not fall asleep during the meeting, and please send him my warmest regards!” Trump said in an email statement.
Trump called Biden “Sleepy Joe” during the presidential campaign last year and has repeatedly claimed that he suffers from mental decline.
Best wishes to Biden after the president’s meeting on Thursday with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Leaders showered each other with praise and Biden even gave Johnson a new bike.
Biden will meet Putin on Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland, after meeting Queen Elizabeth II at the weekend at Windsor Castle and then attending a NATO summit in Belgium.

It is not yet clear whether Biden and Putin will hold a joint press conference in Geneva. Trump was forced into damage control after a 2018 press conference in Finland with Putin, where he appeared to accept Putin’s denial that Russia hacked the Democrats in 2016.
Trump said in his new statement:[a]Mr. President, I had a great and very fruitful meeting in Helsinki, Finland, with Russian President Putin. Despite the late fake news portrayal of the meeting, the United States won a lot, including respect for President Putin and Russia.”
Trump continued that the FBI’s investigation into Russia, which unsuccessfully investigated him for possible collusion with Russia, is responsible for obstructing his foreign policy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with President Joe Biden on Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland.
“Because of the Russia hoax, Russia, and pseudo Russia, made up and paid for by Democrats and Hillary Clinton’s crook, the United States has been put at a disadvantage — a flaw that I have overcome nonetheless,” Trump said.
He added, “For those I trust, they asked, Russia or our ‘intelligence’ from the Obama era, i.e. people like Comey, McCabe, the Lovers, Brennan, Clapper, and many other sleeping bags, or Russia, the answer after all that has been discovered and written, should be Be clear. Our government has seldom had such people working for it.”
