Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that his state had set aside $1 billion in its fiscal year budget for border security, and told Ingraham Angel on Thursday that he would use part of that money to resume construction of the US-Mexico border wall that Donald Trump had started but was hastily halted by President Biden. .
Abbott, who joined the program from the border near Del Rio, said he was tired of the White House’s “willful” disregard for the rule of law and the well-being of Texans and Americans, especially those in places like Del Rio and other frontier cities.
“To show that, we have to build a boundary wall,” Abbott said. “I’ve been here talking to people in the Rio Grande Valley and the way they are being swept away is censured, what the Biden administration has done is disastrous.”
Abbott condemned Biden for ending Trump’s “stay in Mexico” policy with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, which halted some of the flow of migrants as they were instructed to apply for asylum in Mexico before crossing into the United States.
“[Trump] The construction of the border wall has started and now it has all of a sudden disappeared and as I explained, it has led to a huge increase in the number of people crossing the border but not only to the company’s minors, its people have caused massive damage and damage to the population here in del Rio as if its people were up and down over the entire border,” Abbott said.
Under his state of emergency declaration, Abbott indicated that the Texas Department of Public Safety could increase penalties for crimes such as trespassing, as police would raise the number of arrests of illegal immigrants intruding into Texas territory.
“We will take this very seriously and will do everything in our power to secure our borders including building a border wall,” he said, adding that he would share details about this endeavor later next week.
Abbott went on to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris’ ineffective approach to border security, calling the administration’s behavior “deliberate” and worse.
“[I]t purposeful. “It is a blatant disregard for border laws, immigration laws, border communities, and everyone in the United States,” he said.

The Biden administration has abandoned the border [and] No pretense of border security, no pretext to enforce our immigration laws. They made fun of it exactly the same way the Vice President did in that interview that day, so it’s a joke to the Biden administration..”
Harris chuckled when NBC News anchor Lester Holt recently asked her about the crisis at the border.
“But we don’t consider it a joke in Texas. We will hurry up and respond in the way we must respond to secure the sovereignty of our state, to prevent the invasion that has occurred before our very eyes,” Abbott added.
