Vice President Kamala Harris exchanged tense conversations with Univision anchor Elia Calderon about when to visit the southern border.

During Thursday’s interview, Calderon pressed Harris, whom President Biden has tasked with handling the border crisis, about how she has not yet made it to the US-Mexico border to see the migrant crisis in person.

“I said I was going to the border,” Harris told the announcer. “And I-“

“When are you going to the border, Vice President?” asked Calderon during a remote interview.

While Harris was speaking, I heard Calderon’s question, which was a little late, which seemed to be no good.

“I’m not done,” Harris replied sternly with a short chuckle. “I’ve said I’m going to the border. Also if we want to deal with problems at the border, we have to deal with the problems that make people go to the border, flee to the border. So my first trip as Vice President of the United States was to go – with respect to a foreign trip – to Guatemala. , to be on the ground there to address and inform the root causes of the people of Guatemala leaving.”

“Do you have an appointment for your trip to the border?” Calderon followed.

“I’ll keep you posted,” Harris replied.

Harris’s brief rebuke of the Univision anchor spread on social media.

Jorge Bonilla, Director of the Latino Media Research Center responded, “In fairness, I didn’t have @VP Kamala Harris hitting @iliacalderon with ‘I’m talking’ on my bingo card.”

“Off,” National Review senior writer Dan McLaughlin wrote on Twitter.

“There’s this Harris charm,” said political commentator God Bundit.

“Totally sexually racist to Calderon for Harris County in this way,” Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross quipped.

Earlier this week, Harris had an awkward exchange with NBC’s Lester Holt, who similarly challenged her not to visit the border.

“At some point, you know, we go to the border. We go to the border,” Harris said. “So this is all, this is all, this is all about the border. We’ve gone to the border. We’ve come to the border.

“You didn’t go to the border,” Holt told her.

“And I didn’t go to Europe,” Harris laughed uncomfortably. “I don’t understand the point you are making.”
