About 9 p.m., officers responded to the shooting in the Fred Wesleys Homes neighborhood, said Bianca Johnson, media coordinator for the Savannah Police Department.
“Officers have arrived and located many of the victims. At this time, we have a total of nine victims with gunshot wounds as a result of the shooting,” Johnson said. Among the victims, one of the senior victims died.
Among the victims was a two- and thirteen-year-old child. Both had non-life-threatening injuries.
“Many other victims sustained injuries that appeared to be serious or critical,” Johnson said.
There is currently no information on the motive or suspects, and the police are still gathering information.
This is an evolving story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
