Various strains of the coronavirus continue to emerge, including the highly contagious “delta variant” of COVID-19.

Medical experts have expressed concern about new symptoms seen in cases of the delta variant of COVID-19, according to Bloomberg News.

Symptoms of the Delta COVID-19 variant are slightly different from the original virus. The variant, which initially originated in India, has a wide range of symptoms including:

Stomach pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, joint pain, hearing loss

In most cases, patients with the variant are more likely to be hospitalized, have other complications, and need oxygen

Dr. Ganesh Manodhani, a cardiologist in Mumbai, India, told Bloomberg News that he has also seen delta patients with small blood clots.

“I’ve seen three to four cases over the past year, and now it’s one patient a week,” Manodhan told Bloomberg.

Dr. Abdul Ghafoor, an infectious disease specialist from India, told Bloomberg News that he has seen more patients with diarrhea with the Delta COVID strain than in the first wave of the epidemic.

Coronavirus patients have had digestive issues and diarrhea since the start of the pandemic, according to a research paper from the American Journal of Gastroenterology.

A study published in the journal showed that 99 of 204 patients infected with COVID-19 in Hubei Province, China were hospitalized “with one or more gastrointestinal symptoms as the main complaint.”

Moreover, with the increase in the severity of the disease, the symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract become more pronounced. The study reported that patients without gastrointestinal symptoms were more likely to be cured and discharged from hospital at the time of this study compared to patients without gastrointestinal symptoms.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says you should get one of the three COVID-19 vaccines available to you — Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, or Pfizer — wear a mask, stay six feet away from others, and wash your hands often Soap and water.
