Savannah – Savannah police are investigating a so-called “mass shooting” after eight people were injured and another person was killed in a shooting Friday night.

Police of Savannah ABC affiliate WJCL-TV reported that two children, a 13-year-old and two others, were among those shot, and police told the TV station that they were not considered seriously injured.
Police say they were called to the 200 block of Avery Street near Oglethorpe Street near downtown Savannah at about 9 p.m. Friday after reports of shootings in the area.
This is where they found several people who had shot. It was reported that one of them died at the scene, and two victims were taken to hospital in critical condition.

The shooting occurred just blocks away from the Savannah Police Headquarters on Habersham Street. Investigators at this time say they have very little information about the shooting or why it happened and have no clues about the suspects.
The incident prompted a response from the city’s mayor, Van Johnson, who asked anyone who might have seen or heard anything to come forward.
