Ubisoft capped their E3 keynote with a big surprise: a first look at Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. James Cameron’s next-generation universe looks great, and Ubisoft says it’s being built with its own Snowdrop engine in their in-house studio Massive.
Here is the premise of the story:
In this new standalone story, play as Na’vi and set out on a journey across the western frontier, an never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a lively, interactive world populated by unique creatures and new characters, and push through the massive RDA powers that threaten it.
The game appears to be built with next-generation hardware in mind. Frontiers of Pandora is set to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, along with Google Stadia and Amazon Luna cloud services.
Nor is it the only sci-fi world that Ubisoft is exploring: the publisher previously revealed that it was making an open-world Star Wars game, which was also made by Massive.
