A heavy shooting in Savannah Friday night killed one person and injured seven others, including a young child. Savannah police held a press conference Saturday afternoon at the Friday night mass shooting on Avery Street. Roy Minter, Savannah Police Chief, said the victims’ ages ranged from 18 months to 33 years. Two of the victims are in critical condition. The others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Minter said that this shooting may have been the result of a conflict between two groups and this may have been accompanied by another shooting as well on Avery Street earlier in the week. In that incident Tuesday evening, the same house was damaged by 10 gunshots, police said. In this case, the police said they were unable to find any witnesses and no one would talk to them about the case. There were no witnesses. No one will talk to us about what happened. And now, two days later, there is a mass shooting in the same place. “We don’t think it was a coincidence that the same area was targeted on Tuesday and then targeted again on Friday,” Minter said.
