French Open champion Barbora Krejsikova completed a rare victory over Roland Garros, winning the women’s doubles major for the third time with fellow Czech Katerina Siniakova on Sunday.
Less than 24 hours after winning her first Grand Slam singles title, Krezhikova became the first woman since Mary Pierce in 2000 to lift both cups in the clay court major. Only seven women have completed winning the title at Roland Garros.
“Now that all of this has happened, in the past two weeks, and in the past two days, I feel so relaxed and comfortable,” Krijikova said. “I know that from now on I can really enjoy because I’ve achieved pretty much everything I really wanted. Now I can get better. That’s the only thing I can do, just improve.”

In addition to her husband of titles, Krejcikova will regain first place in the doubles standings next week.
“We will have a small glass of champagne,” Krizhikova said. “I’ve already said I don’t really drink, but I think it’s time to really celebrate it. I think we’re going to really enjoy it.”
The 25-year-old, who defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova for the women’s singles title on Saturday, became the first woman to win both titles at any Grand Slam since Serena Williams at Wimbledon in 2016.
Krijsikova and Sinyakova are 25 years old but have extensive playing experience together, having started their junior partnership in 2013. This was demonstrated in their 6-4, 6-2 victory over Bethany Mattek Sands and Iga Sweetek in Sunday’s final. Five of the seven points break.
After racing for a 4-0 lead in the opening set, they resisted a late comeback with an effective net display. Krejcikova made the group fall in love as Mattek-Sands missed a powerful backhand shot.
The Czech duo won the last four matches and concluded the match with Sinyakova’s final backhand victory.
Siniakova and Krejcikova actually won in Paris in 2018 and won Wimbledon in the same year.
“I’m really happy that we won another title, and I look forward to continuing our collaboration at Wimbledon as well as at the Olympics,” Krijikova said. “I hope there will be a bright future for us.”
Swatik was the singles title holder in Paris but was knocked out in the quarter-finals this year.
