Kyrie Irving, guard, exited Game 4 of the Brooklyn Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday with a right ankle injury and never came back.
Coach Steve Nash said afterwards that the X-rays were negative. Irving will undergo further tests and treatment. No timetable has been set for his return.
Irving was injured with a 6:04 left in the second quarter when he fell awkwardly at Giannis Antetokounmue’s foot after a layup during the Giro vacation. Irving remained on the ground for several minutes while Nash and the team’s coaches attended.
Irving walked into the locker room unaided, but he was limping.
Without Irving, the Bucks walked away with a 107-96 win until the series at 2-2.
And the Nets are already missing base goalkeeper James Harden, who has been out since June 5 due to a strain in his right hamstring.
Entering Game 4, Irving averaged 23 points, five assists, and five rebounds in the series.
