Samsung is not making the Galaxy Note 21 this year due to an ongoing shortage of chips. Samsung revealed a few months ago, but various rumors claimed in the past that the Korean giant was already looking to ditch the Note and replace it with something else. Perhaps the lack of chips was the perfect excuse. Foldable phones could just be the kind of Android flagship that caters to buyers, and Samsung will try to stop the switch this year. The foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 will be launched along with the Galaxy S21 FE in August, during the Unpacked event that could have been used to introduce the Note in previous years. This is what most reports have so far claimed. Now, some new leaks have given us the date of the alleged Unpacked event for the new phones, as well as the expected release date of the new Galaxy smartwatches from Fold 3, Flip 3 and Samsung.
Well-known leaker Max Weinbach posted the following encrypted message on Twitter on Friday:
The “3s” he’s teasing must be the Fold 3 and Flip 3 which have been mentioned in many rumors already. For “4s,” Weinbach should be referring to the new Galaxy Watch models. Weinbach may be teasing other devices, but August is usually the month when Samsung releases new devices, looking to beat new Apple products to the market.
Separately, a different leaker has provided the actual launch dates for all these Samsung devices, and all release dates will follow that rumored August 3rd event.
Jon Prosser says the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Active Watch 4 will be unveiled at MWC 2021 in Barcelona later this month, although a launch event has yet to be confirmed. However, Prosser claims to have the actual release date for all Galaxy smartwatches. They are supposed to hit stores on August 11th. The Watch 4 will be available in 42mm and 46mm versions, and the Active Watch 4 will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes.
What’s even more exciting is that Prosser has got the release dates for both the Fold 3 and Flip 3. According to his sources, the two foldable phones will hit stores and ship to buyers starting August 27. That would be more than three weeks after the announcement event, assuming the August 3 Weinbach event date is accurate.

Even if these dates are wrong, we expect Samsung to unveil new Galaxy phones and watches from early to mid-August. The phones should be available for pre-orders for at least two weeks before they are ready to ship, so a release date in late August makes a lot of sense. Not to mention that Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 13 series in mid-September, so Samsung will definitely want its latest Galaxy flagships to hit stores before Apple unveils the new iPhones.
